Len Jones and his son Len Jones Jr (above) showed up to check on the car… I loved that motorcycle he rolled up on! Turns out they were in impound! That had broken a record just before we showed…
They broke the long standing Push Rod Production record with a speed of 116.25; this record had been formerly set by a team of Harley Davidson Engineers, so the Lenny’s were pretty stoked about it.

Just a quick view of Jim Busby heading out of the starting after being pushed by the ‘32 Sedan…. I will have a much more developed Bonneville video soon, it just is taking some time.
For now, enjoy this tasty little bit. It is pretty cool to see that shiny black beauty streaking down the pure white salt.
Bonneville… I am hooked.
After an amazing weekend seeing some truly priceless cars in Pebble Beach, it was nice to take off the neck tie and slip into a genuine Munz- Busby 792 Bonneville Car T-shirt, and get down and dirty in Bonneville.
We left the Mercedes by the side of the road and hopped into the Rat Rod with Jim Stepan and hit the salt!
Richard Munz’s grandson Joe showed up while we were waiting in line for our first run and it was one one heck of a day.
The salt is a very special place, and the people there are awesome. We will be having much more on this shortly… much much more. Come back, it is really hard to take a bad picture in this place.

I should really be onto a lot more stuff, considering we just had an awesome out on the salt today. They only problem is the Internet is flaky to say the least… Luckily I got these pictures up last night after a late drive, thinking I could post them on my phone… Nope.

This is also the car that David Busby became a member of the 200 mph club in! Can’t wait to see it in action in two weeks!
Here we go again… Michael Lewis finished his Round 5 race in 9th place.
“I was pleased to make up seven places in the race and with the car handling well I was able to see my lap times improving as the race went on,” added Michael.
He came Round 6 ready to fight...
“However, Michael’s fortunes were about to change. He had his sights on the eighth-placed car but regrettably he was hit by his teammateCarlos Jr., which caused his car to spin around. Six cars re-passed him during this time, and as a result he crossed the finish line in 15th.”
Good Luck in Rounds 7 and 8 Michael! These will be taking place in Silverstone, England.
Around the Shop Friday
Saturday night at Irwindale Raceway...
David Busby was fast Qualifier for the S2 race in his Lake City Ford Fusion for the third time in six races.
David had a great drive finishing in third. The race finished with the top three covered by less than half a second, so stay tuned, a victory is on the way! Big thanks to Tom Addis at Lake city Ford and all the guys at High Point Racing.
Speaking of one of Jim’s sons doing well in Go Karting…
David Busby was the points leader last year in the Go Kart circuit too!

Jim Busby Jr had an awesome run in Indiana June 11-13 with Newcastle Motorsports.
Placing 1st in one race and 3rd in his last, he is now the United States Point Leader!!
Now, he is off to Italy, to see how he does Internationally. Good Luck Jimmy!
Somone stopped by the shop yesterday with these photos mounted on foam core. It has been a really difficult thing to come up with some good photos of Jim’s 320 Turbo BMW…

These are part of an awesome hot rodders club plaque collection that Jim has hanging in the shop… If you have been there you notice them hanging along the rafters right when you walk in the door.
I love looking at these every time I go in there.
Michael Lewis raced strong, getting up into the second place position, until he spun out, recovering to finish 10th.

“The Tyrell Years”
Literally taped all over one part of The Busby Shop are the above pictures… It represents Jim’s coming out of retirement spurred on by life long friend Bill Karges…
Jim had been retired for 6 years, when one day he got a phone call from Karges. By the end of the conversation Jim owned some cars and was into vintage Formula 1 racing.
They fixed up 2 1979 Tyrell Candy cars, the Benetton Tyrell, and a Thompson… Then raced them all over the place…
This was my first exposure with Jim’s racing; going to Long Beach when he and David Busby were racing these cars around the streets.
