Look back in our Archives for Jim Busby’s drag years… These hunks of metal are what’s left of his beach boy’s drag racing team… At some point the cars were destroyed while racing.
Niether have we… All we know is that salt is in the middle of it, and they seemed like nice people… They didn’t say anything bad did they?

Thinking of Bonneville today… It would be nice to be on the salt early this morning… One of my favorite groups there was a San Diego team (Home of your Blogger Extraordinaire) The Bean Bandits… They have some really great iron out on the track and they seem to be doing things right.

I kept hearing that Don Prudhomme is a ‘Funny Car’ racer, so I googled it… This is a good synopsis of the wild sport.
It is similar to drag racing, but they just make them look funny…
Our neighbor in Laguna Seca is really making a name for himself- Go Michael Lewis!

Laguna Beach, California (March 24, 2011) — Michael Lewis quickly
adapted to Italy’s Mugello Circuit during the recent Formula 3 Italia
collective test session, and set fast time during both days of testing
on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 22 and 23. In fact, Michael’s time of
1:38.989 earned him the distinction of the only Formula 3 Italia
driver during testing to break the 1:39 barrier.
This has been an amazing car to see come together… The Busby Team has really reinvented this baby… Get ready to see it in action- Friday is Test Day, and drivers Rick Knoop and Julian Mann will get to dream of championships.

That is a fine looking man.
This is the Special Judges Award given to the Jim Khougaz Roadster owned by Richard Munz and restored by Busby Racing… We headed out there in August, it sure was fun… The car also received 3rd Place in it’s class… Not too shabby. More HERE.
Richard gave me the low down on the Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance, and sent along these pictures… There was a whole section called ‘Kurtis Street’… Sure is cool to see the Kurtis with it’s famous brethren.

Richard and World Famous Don Prudhomme.

The three cars above are three stunning examples of Frank Kurtis’ works… The Kurtis Aguila 500 owned by Richard Munz is the last car Frank Kurtis had his hands on before he passed away.

Bruce Canepa and his Cobra.
For the past few months the Busby Team has been working on Julian Mann's Lister Corvette...
Rick Knoop and Julian Mann will be driving it victory soon...
The car has been completely re-invented.
Here are some pictures they sent us showing their tests and exuding their excitement to hit the track!
See past posts on this car HERE.
I got this email from Jim this morning:
Hi Dougie, The Lister ran for the first time today on the Chassis Dyno. It ran with out any problems and produce 611 horsepower at the rear wheels!!! that is the equivalent of 850 horsepower at the engine!! This one will be a rocket. J.B. k
