Saturday night at Irwindale Raceway...
David Busby was fast Qualifier for the S2 race in his Lake City Ford Fusion for the third time in six races.
David had a great drive finishing in third. The race finished with the top three covered by less than half a second, so stay tuned, a victory is on the way! Big thanks to Tom Addis at Lake city Ford and all the guys at High Point Racing.
Speaking of one of Jim’s sons doing well in Go Karting…
David Busby was the points leader last year in the Go Kart circuit too!

Jim Busby Jr had an awesome run in Indiana June 11-13 with Newcastle Motorsports.
Placing 1st in one race and 3rd in his last, he is now the United States Point Leader!!
Now, he is off to Italy, to see how he does Internationally. Good Luck Jimmy!
Somone stopped by the shop yesterday with these photos mounted on foam core. It has been a really difficult thing to come up with some good photos of Jim’s 320 Turbo BMW…

These are part of an awesome hot rodders club plaque collection that Jim has hanging in the shop… If you have been there you notice them hanging along the rafters right when you walk in the door.
I love looking at these every time I go in there.
Michael Lewis quickly adapts to the Hungaroring Circuit in Budapest, Hungary. After his second test session, his times ranked him 3rd.
At the end of it all he finished 5th, a solid finish, and he is feeling good about his times, which were amazing.

I just really like this shot of Bobby Walden, Jim Busby and Jake Jacobs at Willow Springs last week… It sums up how cool of a little event it was.
These guys all made a solid effort to come experience this event, it was a real pleasure hanging with people so genuinely stoked on cars.
Jake Jacobs drove that ‘34 all the way from Lake Arrowhead for the event, it took me a while to process what that meant… Imagine even taking that thing on the freeway!
The Kelly Moran post, combined with all the posts about David Busby connected some nerve endings in Jim Busby’s head, and I got hear about his speedway involvement…
Jim Busby Jr won the Jr National Championship twice! David Busby started at age 9 and got 2nd twice once to Jim Jr and once to Greg Hancock.
This got Jim’s gears cranking around to the point that he began selling Speedway bikes right out of the Busby Shop, leading to his introduction to Kelly Moran, Bobby Schwartz, Alan Christian and a lot of other great Speedway racers.
Jim never personally raced the bikes, he was knee deep in auto racing, and eventually sold the business… They do, however represent a whole chapter in his career that we will definitely refer back to.

You Make Laguna Canyon Proud, Michael; Keep it Up!
American Michael Lewis had a stellar performance this past weekend at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, by appearing on the podium for all four rounds of the Formula BMW Pacific series event.
The excitement continues as Michael Lewis debuts in Europe! Beginning the day at 11th means he needs to do some serious passing and working to get ahead in the race.
He eventually gets up to 7th! While battling to make it to 6th someone rear-ends his car, the damage severly slowing his lap times… He still managed to finish and place 14th despite this problem!
“Our Eurointernational car was fast and I was working my way up through the pack and had my sights on the next car when I was hit from behind and was taken out of the race,” said Michael. “Although the damage to my front wing kept me from being able to advance further, I was able to stay in the race and finish.”
Keep up the good work Michael.

Rick Knoop - Well, he didn’t get two steps into the door before his mom wiped his nose.

Saturday night Irwindale Speedway. David Busby is fast qualifier in his Lake City Ford Fusion and finishes 3rd in his second NASCAR race. David Busby started 5th because the top five qualifiers are inverted for the start. David worked his way up to 3rd closing on the leaders only to be sidetracked twice by cautions. It was a really good race with the 3 leader covered by less than 1 tenth of a second at the finish and Busby running the fastest race lap. A big thanks to Tom Addis at LAKE CITY FORD and Tim Huddlestone and crew at HIGH POINT RACING.

Chris Hukill is working to get this baby painted before Jim gets back from his Hawaiian Adventure to see his new grandkid Poppy!
He painted the body and applied the clear coat, now they are wet sanding the clear and getting ready to buff - Then it is back to the Busby Shop to put all together in its’ magnificent glory!
