GT Porsche- 1982 GT Class Le Mans Winner.

This is Jim’s GT Porsche that they won the GT division at Le Mans in 1982 with… Jim compared driving this car to driving a train. Nothing could stop it.

Driving the car in addition to Jim were; Doc Bundy, and Francios Minot.

Jim’s relationships with Porsche was extensive… Lots and lots of Porsches were driven by Jim. Too many to count… Check out most of them in our earlier post HERE and continued HERE

Model of the Car…

The First BMW M1 Pro Car Raced in America

The First pro car they built- knocked everyone’s socks off, because it looked so awesome and different- however proved to be underpowered compared to the Supercharged Porches as competition… However, the Busby Racing Team placed 3rd at Elkheart Lake and 3rd at Ohio, despite this problem.

Jaguar XJR 5 Race Car

This is a really special car… It is different from Rick Knoop’s Jaguar that we tested earlier at Willow Springs after he did an awesome restoration.

This car raced in Le Mans.. It is the very first Jaguar built for Bob Tullius’ Group 44… An incredibly prominant race team in this car’s hay day.

It has the original engine completely rebuilt and restored by Ed Pink.

Upon completion of the restoration it will be tested at Willow Springs, and then it will go to Fantasy Junction where it will be for sale.

I will keep you posted as this car continues its restoration process.

We talked about our trip to the Laguna Seca Raceway HERE with some really cool people… But, I am just now getting to the best part!

One of the most extraordinary things about this event was the shear amount of cars being used that were formerly driven by our very own Jim Busby!

I took pictures of 7, but there were many more!  It was really interesting hearing all the cool stories of the cars from Jim…. Some of them are mentioned in earlier posts… Dig around in our Archives and try to match up the cars above with their earlier posts…

Today I am headed up to the Busby Racing Shop to get caught up on some new projects underway! Come back tomorrow and the rest of this week, we will give you a solid update.

Around the Shop

As we are getting the Bonneville car ready, and we start talking about it, so many great stories come out…

I dug up these pictures on Jim’s computer of Van and Kathy.  They run a upholstery shop a few doors down from the Busby Shop and do all of the upholstery needed on the cars.  They do amazing work…

However, they are also heavily involved with Bonneville.  Kathy rides the motorcycle up top, and has gone well over 200mph on that thing!!  We will be hanging with the a lot come Bonneville Speedweek! Can’t wait!

This is an in car clip from the ESPN Telecast. The camera was running
in the car for the whole race and ESPN would cut clips into the show
during the race.
